How do I speedup my website? – (Home) — Optimizing Website Images with Litespeed – (Step Two)
To be able to follow the speedup steps you must at the very least complete this step to install Litespeed plugin!
WordPress website slow?
This is more common than you think and more often than not can be vastly sped up without throwing extra resources which is essentially your money at it!
We have written this guide primarily for our customers however it will be relevant to non customers alike.
With all our UK Web Hosting Packages the necessary technology comes included as standard.
Most hosting providers use Apache as a web server, it is very common however there is a commercial alternative to it called Litespeed.
Litespeed is a drop in replacement for Apache and 100% compatible so any website that runs on Apache also runs on Litespeed.
It serves websites faster and has advanced caching that will improve things with no additional configuration simply by adding the Litespeed plugin to WordPress!
Great that’s the guide done you may think!
However sadly not as for it to work firstly your host needs to be using Litespeed!
On all our Shared and Reseller plans Litespeed is included, if you don’t use PAC please ask your webhost if your plan uses Litespeed.
Now before you think great again that’s the guide done with! Litespeed is very powerful and with a little further configuration you will speed up your website and also things like pagespeed scores!
Take a look at the benchmark to compare other WordPress caching plugins against Litespeed cache for WordPress.
As you can see it is quite impressive, it is able to achieve better results as it directly works with the Web server itself.
The plugin is also written and supported by the folks that are responsible for Litespeed.
So at this point as a customer of PAC or your host uses Litespeed we should go ahead and show you how to install the Litespeed plugin.
To do this you first need to login to your WordPress admin panel.
This is typically at domain.com/wp-admin however you may use a plugin that hides the admin login page so it could be domain.com/somethingyouchose
Whichever it is once you reach the login page enter your login details and click Login.
Now you have logged in, from the menu go to Plugins and click Add New.
This will start the process to search for and add a new plugin.
On the next screen in the Keyword search box type Litespeed.
This will narrow down the plugins available to install.
You will now see Litespeed and should click Install Now
After you click Install Now it will begin installing.
Once it has finished the Install Now button will change to Activate.
When it does click Activate.
This will now activate the Litespeed plugin.
Congratulations! that first small step has already out of the box helped you out.
BUT! There are more easy to follow steps that need to be done to complete things.
